Night falls again Lost souls begin to walk the earth Their only goal is considered wrong Stammering and chattering Their words mean nothing A broken record repeating the same old thing Sitting in the tight stillness A veil of smoke covers the mind A spirit that once was crushed Embarks on a make shift healing The hurt evaporates into the future Trying to disguise the torment deep inside Everyone else fumbling down the same corridor Searching for the same answer Thinking “thank God for toxins and friends” For without them the heart would steadily bleed Only in this forgotten world Could this statement seem true? An outlet from actuality Living a lie, yet it has become the truth Only because you have eliminated the latter The feasible plummets from the summit of your brain When the sun rises the hurt shall return You pick up that pipe again hoping to fill that void This routine shall continue Until you become a ghost of your former self Tomorrow comes for those who fear it. |

Your poem has made a theme in a Terry Brooks book actually clarify it for me. The characters in his book always haunted me as to how they were dreamed up. When I read your poem I realised he was using junkies as a theme. Good words in your poem Bodger |

You write with much understanding. I spoke with a voudoin priestess once (okay, a few times) and she told me that the addicted were among the most spiritual people she had ever encountered. They were just remiss in their methods of quelling the demands of the flesh. I like the gentle handling of this--some people are simply born screaming. A doctor told me once it was the shock of temperature, but I think it was the realization that they had just been expulsed from "Eden". A junkie thanks you for this. |

Bodger I am glad that my poem helped in someway. Thank You, inkedgoddess. I did not feel that it flowed properly. So if it does not flow smoothly, build a decent structure. Thank You, serenity blaze. I think most poets have fell victim to drugs. As they feel emotions at heightened decree. I recommend that every poet get any substance abuse off their chest. Well most addicts, are searching for something. That is why alot of them become born agains. Well drug abuse is a sensitive subject, I have had a few of my poems revoked from this board as they were not so delicately put. I have to agree with the expulsion from eden remark. Thank You Skyfire. Haven't we all. Thank You, Janette. Tomorrow comes for those who fear it. |
