Combatant in the field of human endeavour yet like a fledgling bird the feminine prepares to fly through the air of the now unaware labeled from the start “No access to a heart”. A flex and then a stretch; the fields are greening now and the elements of male lie over foreign lands substantial to the eyes, to touch intangible, and beyond the reach of the gender feminine. The breath of masculine, the eyes that never cry, but female bartering like food for the well fed discarded into bins outside a wayside inn there to lie ignored by best and better men. The sea of all she feels lies distant from the fields and she is left to eat from platters of pretence till death in recompense regurgitates the false and pride replaces shame for the pain of heartache. She jumps into the air; there must be something there but manhood states no boon to true identity! Helen / 7 October 2005 |

yeah, I definately know what you mean, and exactly "why" I don't date anymore. The good ones are either married or gay? Go figure, huh Wonderfully written and expressed |

Oh dear - I couldn't have expressed myself very well. It's the elements of manhood that are sought - strength, etc. not necessarily a man - although the right one would be ... grand! Some females need to import a few male attributes into themselves in order to survive. Thanks LeeJ and Seymour for the read. Much appreciated. |

Helen "Some females need to import a few male attributes into themselves in order to survive." And some males need a few of those gentle female attributes! I know just what you mean in your poem...great piece and I love the bird metaphor. |

Thanks, Martie. Yes, it does of course work both ways and I'm so glad you got my meaning. |

I agree, Helen....it takes a balance of both. Got me to thinking, though. It must be just as hard for a man to find the feminine as it is for us to develop the masculine....hmmmm. Enjoyed your ponderings. ......jo |
