When a woman asks "Can" I do something for her It seems a challenge, And I don't try very hard; The male ego fears failure. If she asks "would" I, I will bend over backwards To try to please her; "Can", contains a doubt factor, "Would", raises swords of desire. |

Kacy I have many "icefishin stories"..... Looking forward to that season, my brain works best below 32 degrees. Nancy "astute"....I am humbled by this comment....thank you. I-box LMAO- There is a bit of a Freudian slip in the poem, the raised sword has many meanings, it took a fellow pervert to point that out. I say that with utter respect...thank you for reading Chris Thank you , interesting is an interesting word..... iliana-jo Try it, it works....Thanks for the reply. Martie The poem, and perception came from "Iron John"- Bly was my muse, and any wisdom in this poem came, as it usually does, from the mute force of a wiser persons words. Thank you for the complement... |

Of course you are correct. If I ask "Can You" it implies I am not sure you are able to. If asked "would you", it implies I know you are able, but want to know if you would do it. And of course when asked politely, most would comply if they know how.. LOL you are indeed on the button and that sword insertion was not unnoticed...lol, martyjo |

LeeJ, Sunshine, Martie, latearrival,JL,Serenity..... Thank you for reading and the great replies.. I think I must make a line meaning clear. (This line has been taken out of context, I believe, and can see the humor attached)(grinnig) "Would", raises swords of desire." As I said to Martie in my reply to her reply, it was inspired by a part in Robert Blys book "Iron John", which I encourage all males over 15 to read, and all women for that matter.. Raising the sword of desire is a metaphor for the power that a man can feel when he truly wants to do something, like make his partner happy in doing what she pleases done. In our modern society, it seems that that feeling is subdued, or even lost...or worse used in a violent sense, such as choosing to go to war in order to function as a "real" man. Ya gotta' read the book, it is a masterpiece, in my opinion... Thanks again... ford |
