My World of Flowers
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

I rose from bed each morning glory,
With daisies fresh on window sill.
The sun would flower rods so golden,
While bluebells rang in hush of still.

Lilacs lush in gay profusion,
Filled the air with sweet perfume.
Dragons snapping with affection,
At garden flowers as they’d bloom.

Carnations were of every colour,
Their fragrance filled my room with love.
Cascading fuscia hung from baskets,
From porch rafters up above.

Clematis climbed the white-washed trellis,
Wrapping it with purple vine.
Beyond the fence lay fields of daisies,
Fresh and bright in world divine.

Sweet alyssum lined the driveway,
Azaleas bloomed all year ‘round.
Hyacinths in all their glory,
Rose each spring from sleeping ground.

Tulips kissed me wake each morning,
Pansy smiles would greet each day.
Daffodils in sunshine yellows,
Got me on my sunny way.

Lilies white, lay in the valley,
Hollyhocks touched skies of blue.
My world was one of glorious flowers,
Until I lost the love of you.

Flowers from a painter’s palette,
Blessed my life with heaven hues.
All have gone since you did leave me,
Alone and sad and singing blues.

lol You think this poem is long?!? I posted one that is just shy of 400 lines! Acutually I posted it three times in all because of requests I received to repost it. I never thought a poem of mine could sustain a reader's interest that long! lol
