On The Edge

We lived on the edge,
exhilarated by the view.

Then,
true to form,
you stumbled and fell.

You dropped
spread-eagled
into the rising wind,
eyes closed in ecstasy

and never saw me wave
goodbye.

Nan (Pilgrim variety)
