I look at buildings in the street
Some are plain and some are neat
Some are dirty some are clean
All just places that are seen

And I thought, it’s just like we
With nothing on or mask to see
With hair that’s brushed or still asleep
The image is what others keep

For we can wander in a store
To see what others saw before
Decide if we’ll return or not
Take with us the things we got?

With people we can speak and learn
Of circumstance and true concern
Find a treasure or a slum
And wonder what we’ve all become

So

It’s nice to see a store that’s clean
A person with a smile, not mean
But neither one, until inside
Can bear itself so we’ll decide
