It had been awhile since Lacey had seen or even heard from Travis. Life has a way of trudging on, her life being no different. She had made new beginnings had suffered unexpected ends. Yet there was always that place in her heart that was cold and empty. The place that held the could have been, the maybes and the should haves. Too late for that, she thought, as she swiped her brow with dirty hands. She was in the process of making a garden. So far all she had accomplished was the ripping up of earth leaving her dirty and unsatisfied. She realized the more she worked the more work there was. Maybe it wasn’t worth it, she thought. Yet she knew, unlike in her life, she owed it to herself not to quit. This time she was determined to cultivate something good. This time she would bear the fruit of her labors. Proving something to her self. She smiled at the thought,as she continued with her dismemberment of earth and self. "too bad ignorance isn't painful" |

Susan, As an old gardener I understand. Sometimes it is just the digging that helps one clear the mind. Other times it is the choosing of the plants and that can be done all winter. Many times digging out rocks and planning a new garden helps one to sort out what is important and what can be dismissed. It pays if one is prone to speak before thinking, to sort it out while getting one's hands dirty. martyjo Keep your eyes on Ophelia! |

"She was in the process of making a garden. So far all she had accomplished was the ripping up of earth leaving her dirty and unsatisfied. She realized the more she worked the more work there was." Smart girl, that Lacey... A garden? I'd have never thought it. Made me smile with this one Myrtle. |

The next one is the completion? Heaven forbid... that there should ever be a "completion" to the "family"... |
