Oh, It’s So Amish Here Oh, it’s so Amish here among The rolling fields of yellow corn! Each dawn is like a child at birth So clean and fragrant, freshly born Delight is in a cantaloupe Plucked ripe and plump and nicely sweet And bounty fills a wooden bin With what the Lord provides to eat Tranquility is in the stream From little brooks, from crystal springs And peace is in the earth and sky And music’s what the swallow sings I found a place to heal my heart That once was shattered, frail and torn Oh, it’s so Amish here among The rolling fields of yellow corn! Aw Elizabeth, What a wonderful write. A great place to heal, I am sure. Not to mention all those little ones in the picture! Sounds like you are blessed indeed. Fun write and makes me long for fall. ![]() If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

I miss it Liz, and your Amish home is held here in my heart. I’ve experienced this place that heals the heart, Fell in love with it all right from the start. I saw a big Clydesdale on an Amish farm Then felt a strong jab from Liz on my arm. “A Clydesdale! Sharon, you're kidding of course?” She giggled, “My friend, that’s an Amish work horse!” Sure looked big to this city girls eyes, Their way of living became a real surprise. These people could teach us a thing or two, The difference between want, and what will do. Living examples of using this God-given land Each day they plant, give each other a hand. I will never forget my hostess, or her Amish home, No matter how far I go, or where I may roam. |

I will never forget the visit of the "Passionate POets" to my home. I still recall our trecks through the countryside and a city girl's take on tractor-less plowing. Sharon, you make me laugh even when you're not here. But why not plan another visit. All poets from passions are always invited, of course. I've been absent for a while, dealing with illness and reorganizing my life in dealing with it, but I am set now in my new home and ready for company. THanks, SHaron for posting this picture and your delightful poem Love you Liz |

Touche, Lizzie - I'll call... A magic place where time stands still, In sleight illusionary way; As country folk remand new will By clinging fast to simpler day. Reliving epochs seen as past, As yesterday from morrow's shorn Defying modern day's repast, Time spent to greet earth's sprouting corn. Life's wheel bespoke divergent cog, In turn enjoined, allied at busk; As kernels grown of common cob. A harvest pared of silken husk. Our choice to till past fields secure, Predicting crops yield just amount; Or opt future's magic allure - To forge great lakes and move staid mount |

Oh, Nan, please post this poem as a thread. If I, in some way, inspired such writing, I shall feed you little tidbits of verses every day, and you can reciprocate with splendid poetry like this. You still have that loveli-Ness touch. You should write more often (look who's talking!) With much appreciation to all for your comments, Liz |

there is a place we can find and live, even if just for moments, and you dear lady, have not only found this place, but never keep it to yourself, you would rather beam it's happiness on all who know you... Yes, it certainly is Amish here...love and hugs dear lady of the day... thank you for writing and gifting... |
