The white doves of Beslan
circled in memory
Sept 3,
a day of infamy.

And as I sat here, shaking my head
while reading of the ongoing disaster
in New Orleans and Biloxi
I was caught up in a moment
of remembering the Russian children
who went to school last year
and never left.

Each time I see a white dove
I think of all the children of the world
who have died because so-called grownups
never learned techniques
of conflict resolution
or emergency preparedness.

And I also remember today
a sweet poet named WhtDove,
and hope that her spirit flies
peacefully somewhere over the rainbow
with all those other little doves.

May the sun shine on you tomorrow,
and the winds behind your back be gentle.

a lovely day to remember such a spirit and
to this :

who have died because so-called grownups
never learned techniques
of conflict resolution
or emergency preparedness.

shaking my head and just asking
"when will they ever learn"
when will they ever learn"

I'm glad Marge alerted me to this tenderly written piece.

We think we're so knowledgable until disaster strikes and hindsight becomes 20/20.

Thank you for remembering Rebecca (WhtDove) in this piece.  I miss her so much.  Sept. 9th would've been her 39th birthday.  As I watched the unfolding of anguish in New Orleans, I was thankful she and Rod (my late son) didn't have to see it.

God bless you and yours!

Quite touching and necessary, indeed.

Kacy,
Always and ever you remember. I like that about you.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
