there under the velvet armor
of a samurai night
my eyes brail finger the outlines
of the wall of ravens

their soot black shadows with sheen
nervous footing the magic wire
do they know the vibrations are not god
only the radio man's soothsay

my ears hear their voices now
as they chant their story
foreign languages to the dead men
but still we nod our recognition

of just the hollow in their sounds
