We have what is known as FEMA And our “Homeland Security” The Military, State and Feds In case of, such a tragedy. And we also have a President Who stays gone on his vacation While our Country is in dire need Of "real" Leadership for our Nation. What if, in more than one place at one time We might have a “real” catastrophe I just wonder what will happen to All the People of our Great Country? Will we go without food and water Like all those, we are seeing now? While all the powers that be Say, “We’d like to help, but don’t know how!” Will we continue to send resources That we here, at our Home need Taking care of other Countries While we have our own to house and feed? Where are those Agencies we support? Where are the billions that we spend? Where are the “plans they have in place?” What kind of message does this send? When other peoples in the World Need our help, we’re at their door All those do-gooders cry out, “We must help the World’s Poor!” It’s said, “Charity begins at Home!” That saying never was more true Now is the time to help our own Because, “they” could be, me or you. When People get in “survival mode” The desperation might make them be The unlawful type of Folks That we are beginning to see. For some, it’s hard to comprehend They may have never gone, without They never walked in other’s shoes But, that’s what it really is about. A wake-up call, we must heed And make our Leaders, toe the line To put our Country’s People First And take care of yours and mine. 09-01-2005 Del "Abe" Jones Mankind's greatest accomplishment is not the revolution of technology, it is the evolution of creativity. Del, this is somewhat true and I understand the anger here in this poem. However, we are all doing what we can and things will get done. The help is there, and so much more on the way. Communities are pulling together now. I must say when Ivan hit in Sept last year, the relief that came was incredible! Everyone did a terrific job. I'm sure they won't fail in this tragedy either. (and yes, we should have kept Clinton in...my humble opinion) |

I feel your anger Abe, and I must say I quite agree. I went through alot of hurricanes in my lietime, and believe me, that after each aftermath or natural distruction, we learn from our mistakes to provide a better ways to make sure our people is safe. (I prefer a democrat, sorry to all the bush lovers out there! It's just my opinion!) "what doesn't kill us makes us a whole lot stronger, we're gonna last a whole lot longer" Thank you for posting your poem abe! |

![]() (big angel hugs) Oh Abe, though I indeed have my frustrations with this administration on many other things in which I believe they don't listen upon, I believe right now we must try and be patient and let progress be made before we rush ahead with further emotion! (sad sigh) This is undoubtedly a wake-up call, a loud one indeed, but I believe in the meantime it is best we set politics aside from the aftermath and try to unite for the sake of the tens of thousands of victims and families who are counting on our unity to pull through! God Bless You, dearest friend, I do understand your anger very much and have always respected your honesty and heart to speak your convictions, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Abe, thank you for sharing! ![]() May love and light always shine upon you! I think many who read my words know that I am not much of a political writer. I am neither Rep or Dem (to be honest, can't tell the difference) and try to express my feelings based on the person and their deeds. I am a staunch supporter of all our Troops, Law Enforcers, and Firefighters who put their life on the line every day. Right is right and wrong is wrong and our leaders and elected officials should be held accountable, no matter who they are or what their political (or religous) beliefs. Just being who they are don't make 'em right. I am older so not too worried about my own future but am definitely fearful for my Kids and Grandkids (and yours). We are digging ourselves into a hole we may not be able to crawl out of. Abe [This message has been edited by Abe (09-01-2005 03:52 PM).] |
