What do shadows do
when they meet?
Like
a curving
figurative dance
or,
a fight
to the death.

I recall
a particular time
when memories were worth
writing down,
but now
we find ourselves wishing
we could go back, hoping
it's not too late
to say
that we want these
to be different.

The mind is so chaotic,
yearning for something
to push it further
only to find
it is stuck
inside of itself.

Many times
you've spoken to me lies
and I
have forgiven you
for ripping open my flesh,
only to find there is nothing
inside.

What do shadows do
when they meet?

They deny
their own existence
or fall in love with nothing.

You're on a roll of late, Meg. You just get better. Those ending lines floored me. As did these:

Unfortunately I think shadows bounce off each other when they meet, but I think you already knew that. Nice write Kaoru.

Yeah, that was pretty cool. I was thinking two shadows merge and become dark. Nice poem.

A wonderful write and a worthwhile question. Okay - maybe shadows are the love in us following until we take notice and also until others take notice. Shadows really are just "us" watching amazed and dismayed at what we do to ourselves and others... but I never was good at quizzes.

don't know what his shadow does, but yours, has definately met your muse all over again, and for that, I'm so thankful...cuz your a very talented poetess, and if that's what comes out of all of this, so much the better to share with your lovely daughter, like a word to the wise journal for her, when she's ready to give herself to a boy.
