Last night the rain poured gently washing darkness into dawn And as I lie awake I heard the blackbird’s peaceful song...
As minutes ticked away I felt my head let loose of care And listened to the melody float softly through the air...
It seemed I was the only one awake to share this pleasure The rain, the birdsong was a gift so simple, yet so treasured...
And with this thought the early morning sky now turns to day The gifts of Nature soothe the soul if we but look her way...
Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life

so very true, I adore this. Such solace in birds . . . in nature. This is beautiful. I envy them, they actually have wings.

Sunny this is so true. The things of nature are so peaceful. Even the sound of rain or the waves of the ocean, crickets. And the colors of flowers and leaves of trees, so beautiful.
I love this poem, Lady. It's so good to see you here, too. Hugs,

Oh, yes, Sunnyone, you speak a truth so eloquently. My best is waking before the birds. Most times they beat me to it but when they don't, I feel just one tiny step ahead of nature's ... glory! Lovely poem!

Hello littlewing!! And I can tell from your name that you are a bird lover, just like me! Sitting there this morning, an being able to listen to that single blackbird singing was such a joy...thank you...~S~
Hello Ethel, and how good it is to be back amongst my dear friends, like you!!!! Yes, there's a lot out there to look at if we just set our eyes past everything manmade, because Nature is quite worth taking the time to enjoy....thank you so much! ~S~
Hello Honeybunch, and I don't always get myself up before the birds either!! HA!!! But I'm tending 2 puppies at the moment who think that is the time to do their most active romping around, so I was awake! Thank you so much...~S~
Hello Ice, and I do enjoy meeting new friends, so thank you for taking some time to say you enjoyed this one...~S~Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life
