In the fractional worsening of light a woman shamed turns homeward bound and the rhythm of the poor, one day there’ll be more, settles her footsteps from unsteady gait to sure. Still there is a falter and a pause to test her feel. She knows there is shade beneath any damn old tree and breathe in, breathe in, feel the love, just a fantasy in a concurrent run with perceived reality. But she isn’t running with the agility of youth or shuffling rather slow like the old and frail and she wonders intermittently at the in-between and the benefits of time, whether quick or slow to die. Quickly at the knife of devil tongues unleashed straight to the jugular where trust was comfortable or slowly at the poison of unearned disrespect handed on a platter to the innocent. Death - to die, be dead, but, no, she walks ahead her pace attuned to destiny and the beat of fate! |

Helen "But she isn’t running with the agility of youth or shuffling rather slow like the old and frail and she wonders intermittently at the in-between and the benefits of time, whether quick or slow to die." That in-between time can be tough...I've been walking it for a long time. |

I think most women have this determination, stubborness, and will power. Some just use it more than others. LOL I love this poem. It's very thought-provoking..... Hugs, Ethel |

Helen, I liked Martie's comment to this and feel the same, as you know. Also, the last two lines....I do concur...there is something to that word called "fate." .....jo |

Thank you all so much for reading and for commenting and Bodger - I would go further if I could but fate doesn't circulate its agenda. Rather it sits in the background and pulls us off course from personal intentions for the future. We can only do the best we can up to a point - the rest is ... fate or faith. |
