I awaken within the bright light of midnight ~sign my name with life's ink~ upon the paper thin skin of a birch bark tree and my arms feel the air as it rustles the leaves ~willowed thoughts~ watch the pale undersides of the leaves shimmering ~mosquito hideaway~ I step sprightly over the mosses and lichens as they give way to the slightest pressure ~my tentative foot falls~ in the spruce tipped edge of the hill by my cabin I hear a raven calling my name ~I fall to the ground~ listening to the sound of shrews burrowing tunnels, watching as the scavenger squirrel scampers tree-to-tree with his you-can't-catch-me attitude ~caught unawares by a determined black lab~ I wake up to find myself on the hardwood floor of a small city bedroom in Oregon ~far removed from the land of the midnightsunshine~ |

Ah Kacy... for a moment I imagined you had asked for a duet... and then did it alone. ~*~ I step sprightly over the mosses and lichens as they give way to the slightest pressure ~my tentative foot falls~ in the spruce tipped edge of the hill by my cabin I hear a raven calling my name ~I fall to the ground~ ~*~ There was a very special give and take that you left in your imagery... of solid ground and carrying air... I enjoyed this Very Much! |

Good morning! I've had this dream and a similar one several times since leaving Alaska. Guess it means I must not be done with that place. |

But still...in your sleep you can step sprightly. Sometimes, I suppose, waking up is a disappointment. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |
