Something for the old time - rough as it was Back in those days we shipped music words dressed up to chicken rooster hair Ears flat imported words telling us who to dare move split angel blond hair to dare not care We feet 6 miles on a weekend night Soho by 8 cellar by 10 club by 4 we spent on on suits drinking coke Sweat by night cool by day we watched the Blues guys away and old papers wrapped in a ball We dribbled home kicking time Little Richard, Zoot Money, Geno Washington and in the Surbiton Assembly rooms "Brownie McGhee & Sonny Terry" as time didn't matter, distance was no fear Rooster Hair had the blues And Soho Had the snare The Gunnell's the names Flamingo In Wardour Music, music music |
