The Lilies Between these rounded leaves the pool reflects a gingham sky; and there below the sky these fishes, gold and white, the minnows flickering their tiny transpirations at the surface while the lilies shimmer, flaring bright in shining stillness as they reach, strain to leave the water’s face and burst into the fertile joy of air and sunlight. Content they are, to bloom without a pattern where the fate of seed and current, water loam and calling rays of summer sun decree them. And here, this other flower, this lily of the land who walks beside me; does she bring her beauty to this place by fate, or choice— and does it matter? |

James, the lilies, your lily, your poem ~ and you! ~ are all lovely! ~ and no, it doesn't matter! I am sitting at my computer with fresh lilies on my desk. Their scent is heavenly. Your poem was perfect! I am sending some lilies to add to your heart's garden. Love & Lily Light, Linda |

I see a man who paints from all perspectives. Matter-of-fact, you took this reader underwater to view the gingham sky through a lilipad screen, as well. Slick work, James. Very slick! As for your question? "By choice," of course, with a little stir of fate! Just my opinion... sadie |

And here, this other flower, this lily of the land who walks beside me; does she bring her beauty to this place by fate, or choice— and does it matter? ~*~ When that other flower bests the rest, would it matter? |

An alluring write of admiration that comes from the depth...vivid images in rich variety… But for fate or choice, I figure it matters not if the habitat is to the liking. Enjoyed this read with the colorful levels of expression. |
