Standing In Silence...

A single question
Continues to linger
And haunt my thoughts-
Why?
But I’ll never know the answer,
Because I haven’t the courage
To ask it of you.
Though every part of me,
Needs to know.
I try to act calm,
But my nerves betray me,
And my breathing becomes labored,
And my fingers show the marks
Of trying to take out my frustration on them.
Nothing works.

A thousand thoughts
Rip through my mind,
But none are voiced.
I remain the coward.
Keep quiet.
Don’t show emotion.
But the minute I’m alone,
The walls break down,
And my calm shatters.
Tears pour down,
As sobs tear from my throat.
Unable to stop the wave
Of incredible helplessness,
My soul cries out for the truth,
But still I stay in the dark,
To torment myself,
And remain the coward.
