What Will The Rock Say? You could teach rocks to talk; I know, I’ve seen you do it. That’s how I know what it would say: A parrot, even a stone knows. Parrots speak without talking, but a stone’s way is better. It talks without speaking. Talk takes warmth and a heart; Heart, and then a voice; voice and a word; word and a will to say. I know this too: the rock would give what I gave; I mean, the thanks I gave, exactly, the very poem I thanked you with that day. Yes, I know what your rock will say, all of it. And I know why. |

you kept me on the cliff's edge with this! Wondering what the rock will say if he shouts into the canyon... As always, stimulating to read; sadie |

Jamie I believe that everything communicates something to us, if only the history of its life...you can see how time has worn a rock and can feel the turbulance that has smoothed it or caused it to fall. Rocks are beautiful...I enjoyed thinking about the subject of your poem...thank you! |

Parrots speak without talking, but a stone’s way is better. It talks without speaking. Talk takes warmth and a heart; Heart, and then a voice; voice and a word; word and a will to say. The stone's way of talking without speaking captivated my imagination immediately... I'm not sure what the rock will say... but the more I read what talk takes... the more I realize how much chatter exists that should yield to talk. *S* You leave a lovely ponder... excellent work! |

Yes....and I know what that rock said, too....it would indeed have been perfect for this poem. But most any rock would...heck, I've got one in my pocket right now that would say it -- and has, on occasion. |
