"That's What's the Matter" (Title and first verse by Stephen Foster, 1862) "We live in hard and stirring times, Too sad for mirth, too rough for rhymes; For songs of peace have lost their chimes, And that's what's the matter!" That's what's the matter! As the politicians scatter We’ll make All Free Just watch and see, And that's what's the matter! Saddam thought we would divide That some Nations would run and hide That some were not by our side And that's what's the matter! So when the War had once begun And that Gulf War was quickly done We went our own ways, every one And that's what's the matter! Our Troops invasion that first day Had made Saddam an easy prey But the Politics got in the way And that's what's the matter! So we went back to Iraq again With Intelligence that was thin And got us in the fix we’re in And that's what's the matter! They told us it would not be hard And began to shoot and bombard Put a wanted face upon each card And that's what's the matter! So we’re stuck and can’t get out With real Victory in real doubt And terrorists we cannot rout And that's what's the matter! We want Freedom to be the way In all of the World, everyday We will pay the price we must pay And that's what's the matter! We must start at home with you and me To make all Americans truly Free Before the rest the World can ever be And that's what's the matter! 03-07-2005 Del "Abe" Jones [This message has been edited by Abe (03-07-2005 11:14 AM).] |
