albeit Mr. A will surely spend surly nights
alone, adrift, despaired, and you…

Madam, surely you must need some
balm of heart as well.
Did you pen a poem that was meant
for his eyes, only?
Did you favor his handkerchief
with your tears of joy at his attention?

Did you coax his smile with your own?

Tell me, Mrs. H., would the money spent
be worthy of one more night
next to his soul?
Petition well. Mr. A. knows where his
comforts reside.
