I found no easy way to lure the muse. I bought her flowers, sweets and lingerie. She came and left without an excuse. You said, “be more specific.” Overused Specifics tend to turn into clichés. I found no easy way to lure the muse. I learned about her past to pay my dues, I imitated Frost and Eliot. Dismayed, I watched her leave without an excuse. I asked her out to dinner. She refused. You said, “use modern diction,” and I made All effort that I could to lure the muse. I wove each line of verse into a noose. I hung on words and prayed for her to stay, She never even gave me an excuse. I knelt before her and I kissed her shoes. Like no one else, I wanted her that day. I found no easy way to lure the muse, And proudly, she left with no excuse. Check out my poetry here: |
