The preview of spring
in the peeking blossoms,

as snow falls
on the shoulders
of the disheartened,

the royalty of white;

trees crowned with steelhearts;
this pristine aloofness,

the drifting of the seasons

and the bereavement
of the sacred,
when scorched
by the moment's passing.
