The greatest racism does not have a singular color Its prejudice shares the same blood makeup In its hunger to feels from an empty stomach. It existence is a political denial of convenience Their votes still count, as an equal mistreatment. Tears of hunger pains, the reality of its plight Poverty, America’s greatest shame of existence Presidents do not want to visit this neighborhood They are the reservations, that they choose to ignore Foreign ground on American soil, needing assistance. Shadows of its face, grows restless in its plight Eyes cast down as human waste of resources. The few lucky athletes’ gladiators take flight. Ears that have become deaf to American dreams Seeing realities nightmares, weep inside its streets. Taxes of the wealthy see only corporate funding, Tax abatements for creative social accounting While people shiver in the cold and misery. If poverty was a corporation, it would be funded But tears of this reality freezes government support. People who are SAVED, look down in distain. Blacks having elevated themselves, look the other way. Cold sores blisters in the cancer of human blight. Humble and compassionate ones offer their services Seeing government fail them, in their war against poverty. always biting into the bitterest pills thank you, for sharing the voice for the voiceless ones "If poverty was a corporation, it would be funded" but to differ on one thing 'blacks' are not a homogeneous group, and have not looked the other way as a group and are not to be lumped into one mindset, any more than are whites, hispanics, orientals, muslims, jews, or any other group as for the poor, and the hungry... they come in every imaginable shape size color and mindset and they are a growing population base in this country...I know this firsthand, for I work for a charity, and see the food bank lines daily [This message has been edited by Midnitesun (02-27-2005 11:44 PM).] |

D Lester, Thankyou for writing this post. You have shown a light on the shadow of the dream... and how quickly it is to claim us with open arms...only takes a corporate restructuring, or an illness...or an act of God, Your compassion shines through here. TD |

I agree that blacks are not a homogeneous group, their diversity is apparent, What I tried to say here, is that some people that come from poverty and once elevated out of it, forget those still suffering from it. Poverty cannot be ignored, for the numbers are rapidly growing, every race, creed, and religion needs to combat its effects before it is too late. To me the diversity of America is too important to lose it to any form of bigotry/ |
