(Here's a more downbeat every-now-and-then summer post, as while a majority of my summer posts will be happy and upbeat, I also find it important never to forget about the less fortunate out there who understandably have less to smile about and need our utmost support, love and comfort, who I feel our governments and many people often turn their back on and take for granted! )

Frozen Cradle
By: Noah Eaton
5/19/05

Staring into a frozen cradle,
full of veins of feathers and welded halos,
her Steiff's Pansy Teddy's now on her mother's bedside,
immaculate face a bit worn out from the winter cold.

The familiar cry of a match-seller,
long attached to her baby boy's blue blanket,
the rosemary scent each day tapers away,
masked from the Thaliomide outside,
the golden cobwebs are achromatizing at her doorstep...

"Whenever you're lost look as much like home as you can",
the squeaks in the cradle wheels tell me,
"Whenever you're lost look as much like home as you can"

A shaft of light dabs Second and Burnside,
but the ice cream vendor's laughter isn't as ripe,
I'm sure I'm capable of appraising this sunbeam,
it'll just require some time.

Lord knows I'm just trying to follow along,
there's just something I've been meaning to supplicate,
"A baby is God's proof that life must go on.",
how can I begin now to compensate?

"Whenever you're lost look as much like home as you can",
the squeaks in the cradle wheels tell me,
"Whenever you're lost look as much like home as you can"

There’s the steeple, here’s the sepulchre,
can we see looking down this social fissure?
The cage cannot tame the friction of a sparrow's cry,
the last squeak of the rusty back gate keeps reeling in my mind,
I never heard you say you don't need me anymore,
the least trivial things come with no semaphore,
"If we don't stand up for children, then we don't stand for much."
Naked not only for clothing,
but naked for dignity and love.

"Whenever you're lost look as much like home as you can",
the squeaks in the cradle wheels tell me,
"Whenever you're lost look as much like home as you can",
"Whenever you're lost look as much like home as you can",
"Whenever you're lost look as much like home as you can"
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
If you can hear, raise your hand,
"Is there anyone out there,
who feels just as lost as you?"
Do they bleed in their sleep,
when you recite lullabies of the ages,
when you're lost,
do you always feel homesick,
between you and me,
can we ever look much like home?

"If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other"

This is very beautiful. It had a hint of sadness to it. I love it.

Poetry is beauty in words.

Hey Noah ... its been awhile since I have had the chance
to read and reply to one of your posts ...

I agree, children are our only salvation
and we need to be the founders of peace for them to
                have that life.

      This does have a hands-in-the-air effect ...
              3 hail mary's and a big AMEN!!
       * AND GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR HOLIDAY WEEKEND *

Isn't life so hard for some people? You are so good to be so aware.
Love this.

"If we don't stand up for children, then we don't stand for much."

~ D'accord! I agree wholeheartedly! ~ and you, my friend, are one who stands tall and strong for the children of this world!

Love & Child Light,
Linda
