There are moments
when my composure
will almost fail
and I come so close
to the tears
I have no right
to cry

that’s when
my soul screams

     ‘it should have been me’
                                            ‘it should have been you’

and I just can’t understand
what got in the way
it’s then,
your name falls
in a sobbed whisper of

‘why’

knowing,
there is
no answer...

no, that isn't me. I write the poem, then try to find a picture that will go with what I'm trying to say...
and yeah, I don't know that any answer would be right, or enough...

thank you all for your wonderful replies!

time and again this muse gifts you with these classic "SEA-ache" writes that have become your lovely poetic trademark.

Oh, you always have the right to do this, Susan . . . no matter the circumstance.

to the tears
I have no right
to cry

it is our healing . . . and that px reminds me of one I have of me in Kauai where I am atop a mountain and just contemplating . . . everything, like the px above . . . just wondering where I am going and how I got to where I was . . .
