These days the sky is mostly clear
with a view from here to there
and the stars appear as grinning seers
to light the darkest nights.

But when the clouds of life’s dismay
stay for a spell above
how burdened is a body, mind,
by the pressure of ill will
bearing down and flattening
the fullness of a heart.

And all spells come to stay
with bags of consequences
equipped for many changes
from winter into spring
and prepared like a boy scout
to turn me inside out.

It is ordained, it has to be,
this turn from inner out
for love like the sky
must been seen to be believed
and then made immortal …
by the mind, it seems to me.

Forever in this state of mind
the sky spells out your name
though clouds gather high above
and shoot darts into my heart
of your infidelity
to eternal spirit pacts.

Around the now thinness
of my heart once overfilled
the spell of love is tied,
to love the spell of ordinance,
and the spell of my belief
around this spell of grief
as padding and protection
from the spell of consequence …
and I hope it is enough!

It is enough to get you through, dear Helen. Love is a spell, for sure, but I think your beliefs are stronger.

Linda, icebox, Eric & Jo - thank you so much for your kind comments. Yes, Jo, love is a spell so many times cast over the unworthy and then, Eric, we have this thing emerging called "growth" and I wonder ... what's it all for?
