Between the Lines

For you,
I strip myself of all pretense
exposing the now of want,
the need to feel the edges
of innocence,
contentment the goal.

Pillowed thoughts lay me awake
playing over and over until emotions
sigh me to sleep.

I see the face too serious
and the lips too moist
and the eyes that pierce the darkness,
remembering that first kiss
and the transfer of tomorrow
into today.

I reflect upon the heart
and paint the still life that may be,
could be, when time is not wasted
as I stand before you naked
with only my words.

M

Each time I read you ... I find a thought that wants to cling to the nib of the poetess in me~

'Pillowed thoughts lay me awake'

I mean ... how thoughtfully inspiring is that ?
