I sat beside the rivers edge, trying to collect my thoughts as the rush of current lulled me into a peaceful mood. I pulled the tattered and worn diary out to once again write on it's pages, now discolored from the passing of time. This diary was the one secret that I had kept hidden from the eyes of others, for it was for me, my one true treasure. I had begun writing at a very young age and as I grew older, my musings were captured in word, and I returned to them often... Sitting on the bank listening to the wind blowing through the trees I began thumbing through the pages of faded ink scribblings. I read of my past, starting at chapter one. Some of the memories seemed to come to life right before my eyes, and I could hear the laughter that had been captured in my youth. That was so very long ago. The sky became dark as I began to read from chapter two. The laughter faded as I recalled the time that I had spent with you. The skies were ominous now, roaring with the oncoming storm. I closed the book, knowing that chapter three had yet to be; and would be written... (retitled and revised 6-14-05} I really want to care, I want to feel something, let me dig a little deeper nah, still nothing~ my give a DAMN is busted. Jodee |

~ and may your journals and travels never end. Donna, I identified with this poem on such a deep level. I too, am a journaler. My diaries fill a closet! ~ and the memories revisited, are both nostalgic and poignant. Loveya! Linda |
