light is sky
                                          the river light
    color of sanded
              grass
                                          this flare orange
                                             burning
feet turn wing
    try to fly
                                          bask or shrivel
      from blastheat
                                          in the glow
this is Earth                             of the burning river
   daring you
          to live                            to live
                                          a        creature
creature of the heat
            waits
                                          waiting
       redemption in                  redemption in
a bucket of
               stars
                                         velvet cliffs
or flailing like                          of moonlight
    a burned
                  fish                              understanding
                                       could be
     on the stringer                             fatal
do not try
         to understand                       or cause
                                           breathng
        ship rocks
      are sand                            pause not
  wait     ing    to                          lest ye
             fall                          fall

I've developed a bad habit (or good, depending on your point of view!)...I write mostly in notebooks now, and when I do, I just open it at random and start to write.

Well and good, except that sometimes I will find a poem written months before and forgotten completely....like this one, an experiment in dual voice that is perhaps a year old.

Bless that habit!

I liked all THREE voices in this one!

Ed

Beautiful images...I can just see your mind's eye traveling with you, and making little marks in your notebook.  Loved this!

"redemption in a bucket of stars"

RatL, that one line was worth the read in itself.  Very interesting perspective.  Saving to read again.  *hugs*.....jo

Good habit, wonderful habit, please don't ever lose that notebook habit that gifts us with such treasures! *S*

I've been working on a poem that thinks it needs to be dual voice... and my floundering has given me even greater admiration for what you achieve and how you make it seem effortless. *S*

This may have been forgotten and may be nameless... but it's timeless... and superb!

At least you keep them.  Never lose them, my friend.  This is exceptional.
