It's night.
There's a part
of the line
that is caving in,
falling upon
familiar names.

After, not even
a simple stone
will mark the words
as once were used.

I talk among those dying eyes
condemned by far off strategies.

Share a joke
with lives to end

beneath the light

of a single flare.

It always amazes me when I find so few responses on your works... This is superb!

And it amazes me how, even in the middle of the night, in a mood from hell, I can open a poem of yours and be moved almost to tears.

RL,

Thanks,

Look on the bright side;
in this case, there’s at least a chance
General Dennis may be going to jail.

Thanks again.

John
