Between the Lines

I'm waiting,
seems I'm always waiting
and wondering now,
if the wait is worth it.

The softest touch,
where is it now?
I watched him sleep
and could not tell content,
could not feel his thoughts,
could not share his darkness.

The distance grows,
feelings begin to crumble,
the beautiful begins to feel ugly
as I sit in silence,
watching someone else's future
walking down the aisle.

Melancholic, but probably "healthy" ponderings, dear Maureen.

So well done!

I wish that I didn't understand this so well and feel it like I do now.

Oh, how I know this feeling well.  I have been in the position where I've given up - only to have him realize what he was losing all too late.

Well written.
