This poem was written to a challange. The challange was to write a poem inspired in some way by the following quote: 'Hey man, I'm making moves and I am so much stronger than you. I am so much stronger. I am so much stronger than you. Everybody thinks the way that we thought. We thought ahead and look what we got. Well, I did not invent this world. Call my words a string of pearls. And you will find the sheen soon loses lustre.' - Syd Straw, 'Future 40s (string of pearls)' Words Unheard Call my words a string of pearls Draped round the necks of jean-clad girls Whose luster fails to keep the sheen Though well strung out and polished clean And doubt the truth whose image lays Beyond the spoiled crystal glaze That litters shelves of history books We seldom give a second look We build our monuments to man Yet seldom lend a helping hand And shut blind eyes to travesty Enthralled in our own dynasty So let these words fall on deaf ears And with the passing of the years They’ll fade, they’ll crumble, desecrate They may be heard, though much to late Let war, defiance, greed, and hate Pride and money seal our fate And in the rubble, these words entombed “Without some change, the world is doomed” I am nothing special...and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me,this has always been enough.~N.S |

For someone who sees the world as you do, this was not an easy challenge. Well done, m'dear. |

Ruth, your words are indeed pearls - of wisdom. Very powerful writing and sad because of the truth it portrays.....such is the human mind, I suppose. |
