Between Conception and a Daughter's Face
     (in loving memory of Michelle)

I must say the words that trip my heart
for Michelle you taught me about the art
the magnitude of the open space
between conception and a daughter's face

The swell is rare like someplace else
that childhood captured up a tree
and flew with breeze in kite believe
a place of smooth sea glass and folded maps

With foot no bigger then a finger
and startled slippery embrace of air
I see you there within my heart
as if you had been there from the start
a piece of me just waiting on my whim
wrapped in cloth right now I feel I am
still holding you in time backwards
my lock of hair I see you still keep
within your fingers past my weep

Somehow you knew that I was wounded in my flight
and heard the tears within my night
for you could see past fact of infancy
into the better place in me
with just your head upon my shoulder
yes you were the one that taught me
how to be your mother

Breast's swelling rich and true is gift   I see
not wrapped or bought but passed on free
like milk's first drop when cry opens a place
because of you I knew again
my mother’s first embrace

Martie, from

"Between Conception and a Daughter's Face"

to

"because of you I knew again
my mother’s first embrace"

I was flooded with emotion. Your memories are indeed "loving"...

Michelle, your Mom and you are all special.

Love & Living Light,
Linda

And you know too that your boys understand -- all three of them.

A mother's love is uniquely beautiful, Martie...no one can fail to respond.

Each tribute to Michelle is more precious that the previous. She is so alive in your heart...and ours.  Hugs Ken

Such aching beauty... To say this is excellent doesn't do the heart of it justice... but excellent it is!
