Box of Pain My head rings against the walls of emotion Clattering like an orchestra without a conductor Noises from different places and repeated moments Refracting off of dim thoughts and empty gin bottles Like the light of a rainbow distorted through glass; If I could just escape the anger, the hurt, the pity And believe that God has allowed me to forgive myself Then with the help of Angels and orange sunsets I can be lifted and guided out of the flames of sin To hear the silent triumph of horns and my beating heart. Powerful opening lines "My head rings against the walls of emotion Clattering like an orchestra without a conductor..." In these valleys, pain collects in a furious river...the music is often loud and churning...confusing the senses, as it ebbs without warning, and then it seems to scour a deep enough place to lake. If we let it pour out as it needs to, what remains is calm and wise. We are the conductors of this music. Inspiring write Keith, as always. TD |
