SINCE THE FALL It’s been thirty years ago Since the Fall of Saigon But for so many who were there That War still Rages on. Some things have gotten better And for some Time has Healed But there are some Memories That will Never be Revealed. We turned our back to those Who went off to Wage our Fight And we blamed our Soldiers When we decided, it not Right. We must never let our Nation Blame it on the Fighting Man Who goes off to do the bidding Of our Leader’s War Time Plan. The Years may Ease the Pain And blur Memories, but yet That Shame of our Country We must Not, Ever Forget. More than fifty-eight thousand Etched in that Mourning Wall With more added all the time Until the Last of those Souls Fall. A Small Monument to Heroes From that War of Yesterday Where we Honor our Soldiers In the True, American Way. 04-29-2005 Del "Abe" Jones Mankind's greatest accomplishment is not the revolution of technology, it is the evolution of creativity. |

remember our history so that it doesn't repeat itself... Such an important message you write. I thank all those who have serve and continually serve in our armed forces. As well, I pray our leaders have the wisdom to make good decisions. miscellanea |

Well I am up in Canada, and to this day my heart goes out to your veterans. It is nice to see that so many have moved on though (Jane Fonda was here for a book siging and she was greeted with mixed emotions from Vietnam vets - some good, some quite bad.) You are right for some - the war will continue to rage on through all time, but it will remind us never to repeat that in our history. Excellent job as usual on historical events Abe. |

A great lesson and tribute. Abe, I thoroughly love your abundant patriotism. I know that there are many other veterans beside just myself that owe you many thanks for your steadfast position with us (past, present, and future). I am with you all the way. I can't believe it's been 30 years already...and 14 years since Desert Storm! We are but flickering lights, a blink in the span of time, a vapor in the wind. Your writing touches those who have served. I am certain...it has touched me. Semper Fi. your poetic friend, Kevin PS. This has prompted me to repost a couple of oldies for you Abe. Enjoy. BTW, post your Semper Fidelis poem for everyone to appreciate (or at least us crazy veterans!) |
