i
Eyes of catch-22, chaste
Ligaments, lapped on bone
Traditions in a pea tree dish
Shames the imagination
Where body stretches to
Accepted wisdom, bites and calls

Human recognition!
I throw in the trash
Waiting, with legs crossed
For the hidden dancer, while
Kissing the overlooks of mountains,
I failed to see
Generating pure exaltation
Consumption for which no man speaks
Lends simultaneous unearthing
Of extensive resources
ii
Someone laughed because I don’t date?
I’ve caused enough tears to last a lifetime
If it doesn’t work out and I walk away
Who cares for the heart I’ve just slain?

iii
Sea flaps darkness which loudly
Knows fear, yes, darkness knows terror
Everything fears something
Some alarm happiness for others…

Privilege is counting the change of life support
Finding some spot on the surface
Where noise burrows into the breast of man
Blood then, feeds metallic fingers
Consciousness adds diversity to senses
Pure momentous adoration rolls rounded

Abandoned by lovers, but not by love
Archaic inserts the ballad
See night sipping on the loon’s voice
Speaking unison with man
Dimming the light of dreams
Like a sensuous melody
Barking at shadows of trees
How can happiness be achieved?
By definition, the white knight of compassion

My intent here was to relate the tragic sorrow of divorce...the ending of any relationship is like a death...very sad, sometimes very ugly, painful filled with persecution, grief and a great loss of confidence, which leaves us open to self examination...it has been my experience, that causing pain for another, causes great heartache and sorrow for myself...its difficult when you feel you've disappointed someone, hurt them...not been able to agree...and yet know deep in your heart, you cannot compromise your beliefs or self...

Lee, everything you write is so incredible.  I am always at a loss for words to describe how they leave me feeling..
This particular one is outstanding!

I, with the others, sense more than a presence in your words...

but never, ever feel futility...

You are so full of thought...I sometimes wonder how you are able to light the page with so much meaning, so often.

agreeing with Martie

God only promises a safe landing, not a calm flight.

Happiness is achieved by your own persiverience.  God I hoped I spelled that right!  I loved the poem, Steve

I love what you do with language, the way you blend connotations and homonyms into the flow of the poem, in a way that adds to the meaning....very creative stuff!

I have to agree that your writing takes the reader down so many paths, thoughts, ideas, sensations - always a treat - a feast for the mind -

i like and aspire to be
in a place of comfort with self
as the woman in this poem appears to have found
