Between the Lines

Even though... I let it pass
trying to break away from memories
that reflect upon and take me down
to a place that tweaks my heart
and counts my worth, not getting very far
before falling asleep.

I place myself in arms of strength
to calm my mind and experience the difference,
to rescue myself from a reality
that often torments the emotions
and lays completion to the nightmares
that spread themselves
throughout the night.

A shadow to touch, and take away that fear,
to season me with affection, to mirror my heart
and unfade my passion...
sometimes too much to ask for.

Sometimes along with the asking must come the expectation of receiving so ... the moral is, be careful what you ask for. Just a theory.
