A Very Serious Look at CHIVALRY Where have the tales of chivalry gone to from these pages? The tales of Knights and Maidens Fair and Magic through the ages It seems the Knights are resting now, or maybe gone away The field is now the Dragons.... If we want to play Maybe we will play the game and speak of something new We will speak of chivalry, from the Dragons point of view We Dragons are a fearsome lot... or so the stories say Awesome teeth wicked claws, breathing fire all day If that was all there was to us then surely you would find That Dragons would no longer.. come easy to your mind When Merlin needed wisdom he went into his cave He went to visit Dragons... not to Knights so brave And look how many Virgins, came knocking at my door Just hoping for a Knight to come.. so they could see some sport The Knights would don their armour, and clamber on their steeds Then wander through the countryside bragging of their deeds Think what sort of Hero a Knight could really be 300 pounds of armour soon brought them to their knees Yes they lived the purest lives... It could be no other way To try and get their armour off, took them half the day And if a "mighty armoured Knight" ..more through luck than skill Slew a "fearsome Dragon" he'd want to show his skill He would cut the head off, parade it through the town But think of when the battle was the other way around The "mighty Knight of chivalry" lies roasted on the ground What then does the Dragon do, with the morsel he has found? We will try to look at this, from a modern point of view You have no can-opener and a tin of Irish Stew I REALLY enjoyed writing this Commenters will be gratefully incinerated Actually All Comments even Critical ones VERY WELCOME Live It |

Sir Gawain Its been too long!!!! Its been many years now since we met I thought that all the Knights were dead The Damsels walking down the street Are not like those we used to meet And Arthurs gone....does he just sleep Like Merlin ... gone to forrest deep Me..... I wait here in my cave Remembering the Knights so brave The grail you sought for all those years The chivalry that died in tears Arthur the King who led the way With Genevieve his Queen by day Remember mighty Lancelot The shining Knight of Camelot And how can we forget Morgain The cause of all the useless pain The table where you made your vows Is just a distant memory now But you... You interupt my sleep Maybe its time for us to meet We've watched the death of chivalry Now there's no place for you or me Find your armour and your sword Take your lance... and rig your horse Then go to where the eagles fly I'll be waiting there...on high And once again... like at the start The rage of battle in our hearts We will meet and play the game One final time.... a last refrain more Fun Live It |

The two of you are doing nicely with your stir of the way back then and those chivalrous ways of knighly days.. |

You are a talent, all right! Hah, fooled me again: the opening stanza made me think it would become a revisit of cliche.. a couple of possesive apostrophes seem needing in that first stanza. OK.. on to the rest of it: I am drawn in and become interested as if I were reading a writer of Twain's talent. And perhaps I am. --a dis-connecticutted yankee says thanks again-- |
