Time’s steps have lain the path, one which is now worn but solid as the sheer of rock that holds it. Even though there was a time when tiny steps had never trod the fresh earthen way. A time when a huge hand held and soothed, rocked and lightly stroked fine tendrils of hair. The tendrils grew, became a shape of a mother’s fantasy, perhaps some past flame from a time when talkies brought imagination’s flickering to soar into the night skies. The hands became their own enemies as countless cuts, bruises and bumps assaulted them....and tears welled in wait of a mother’s tenderness. The path became longer, deeper, cut into the soft soils as a boy grew and ventured forth timidly, fearful of the night air and the shadows that dwelled ..perhaps around the next bend. And, even then, a large hand reached out, steadied a youthful shoulder, answered silently in assurance...and gently pushed forward...a son. And now, after five decades...a hand, worn but sure, kind but firm, silent but affirming, reassuring....reaches out once more....guiding a pair of Nike’s.... a mop of reddish brown hair and two shocking blue eyes....down a worn path...in hopes that some day his hand will steady the step of elder, as the path comes to a valley, where grandfathers and memories lie. |

...and gently pushed forward...a son. ~*~ The touch of this is solid, quiet, and sure. |

Thanx K and KJ, we can only hope we guide them well and that they are there to steady and guide us when our own time of need comes. |
