Spring wheat ain’t no higher than a grassphopper’s butt- erflies flying over unfertilized lawns which’ve yet to be cut, It’s springtime in Kansas, a time to behold, With days purty near perfect and night’s still right cold, Now the evening’s are booming, thunderstorms are a busting, And occasionally a twister, with lightening sword’s thrusting, Now Sunshine’s a shining, up Salina town way, And further down south, in Salt City they say, That spring warps the mind of pea-brained old poet, Like they’d have to say, as if he wouldn’t know it, He best get to bed, so at first light that old nut, Can get to mowing the lawn, which is yet to be cut. |

The wheat it's a-booting, at least up our way... the showers are here, and thunderheads say Spring is at hand, the sun makes us rise... and clamor's at hand, at least in the skies... |
