Tears Are Abrasive Whatever happened to yesterday's dreams? When did we relinquish our golden themes? It seems, though we're talking, we never hear— —The ache in our hearts to which we adhere. We want to be loved but we've not the time, To wed our hearts and souls to the sublime, We'll readily play at lust with a beau, As long as their thoughts we don't have to know. Callous are the fools that we have become, To another’s, “need,” we will not succumb, It’s a world of me…never “us,” nor “we,” And damned is the soul that can not agree. Give ne'er the heart if thou wishes not hurt, For tears are abrasive when love’s inert. |

Thank-you for the read and the comment Marge. I know this is a sad piece...but we write what we feel. Hugs from me to you. Thank-you for reading my poem and commenting on it. It was a struggle just to capture the words. Thank-you Snow for the lovely picture award. I don't know if I'd call this poem a must read...but it is an honest one today...and all I have to give. I am so tired. I really need to sleep. Thank-you Enchantress for the read and the hug. I really needed a hug at the moment. |

i seem to have nothing but issues with your email addy now for weeks. everything either bounces back or i am sent a note saying that your account is non existent. i'm going to assume that's why you're not answering anything instead of assuming the worse. i think if you want to try writing me, you should use the yahoo account i have instead of my aol. (it's the same username) .. either way it's up to you. Kevin, after reading in the replies that you wrote, I understand that your poem is a reflection of your feelings at the present time. I thought that that was probably the case because your poem came across as genuine and sincere ~ not "just poetry". You are eloquent in your pain ~ and that is a mark of a true poet. Sending you a big, loving, comforting hug, Linda |

Kevin, Wish I could say something that would change all the me's of the world into an us! The pain of your words penetrates. Besides altering my mood, your writing has inspired me with its eloquent poetic flow. miscellanea |

Kevin - I feel your heart in this - emotion and longing - it is a dangerous thing when we give our heart - but I have found that in doing so, we are granted the richest rewards. Unfortunately - when burned, it is easy then to protect ourselves and not venture upon such a venture again - You write this form so well - and your pen weaves wounded beauty in this - I agree with Snow - definitely a must read - Hugs - Susan If I wander far enough, long enough, will I finally know . . . |
