The world appears washed out A snow field viewed through milkglass Only the occasional signpost points the way Straight now, and unswerving Toward the bank, and Charon’s ferry The signposts, though, are but a reminder The path is clear, a runnel, well worn Made muddy with the wet of regret Littered with things, unfinished And bare, from the endless shuffling Procession of shades And I know, at some point When the last tenuous corporal thread has broken I’ll need to restrain myself From shouldering past the throng Past Mercutio Amazed at where his impetuousness has taken him Past Desdemona Pillow-pale and searching still, for her lost kerchief And running to catch up with the fair Ophelia Skipping in her hurry to reach, and bathe In the cool forgiveness of Lethe |

and even in the dark . . . you shine. (but please do not drink of the Lethe) I have missed your stories. You take me to secret places with your writing, Eddie. Please do not ever stop. |

ah, the fair Ophelia... I litter ways with flowers and giddy exclamations of what which is and never can be the secret of mystique I am quite glad, you know, I am and I'm so glad to grow it's bold this crocus blooming in the snow tell me, then, I am quite mad as pinks in play against the glow of these crystals tightening expanse/contract around my throat-- Ophelia denied, I know. That's exactly what you meant. (er...ain't it?) *battin' eyelashes* You spoil me. I ask for beauty, and receive. * |

Made muddy with the wet of regret Littered with things, unfinished And bare, from the endless shuffling Procession of shades Your tales of life strike a chord deep in me Ed...I enjoy your talent. |

The signposts, though, are but a reminder The path is clear, a runnel, well worn ~*~ And this, this goes beyond the visual into the sense of spiritual... |

"The world appears washed out A snow field viewed through milkglass" ~ I, the eternal optimist who wears the proverbial rose-coloured glasses and peers through crystal clear glass, appreciate the richness and beauty of your visions and philosophies. You are the poet's poet, Dear Ed! Love & Light, Linda |

Past Mercutio Amazed at where his impetuousness has taken him Past Desdemona Pillow-pale and searching still, for her lost kerchief And running to catch up with the fair Ophelia Skipping in her hurry to reach, and bathe In the cool forgiveness of Lethe this had me from beginning to end but...this...this made me feel like you were skipping into an extravagant jaccuzi... hugs to you for sharing this |

Ed, It is so good to read you again, my friend. Every time I have found your post waiting for me, I have been engaged from word one. This one was no different. Your ability to conjour up keepers drawn from often discarded observations amaze me. You have such insight and flair for the written word it absolutely captivates me. I have often wished to capture your words on printed pages in some local bookstore...words that certainly deserve to be there. When I read you I feel as though I'm traveling there, in your front pocket...as though I am a part of it...seeing things through your eyes. Brilliant would be a word to describe your words. I am always impressed. Kevin |

"Made muddy with the wet of regret Littered with things, unfinished" oh this wrapped around me, like wearing something that is slightly askew yet somehow so fitting... "too bad ignorance isn't painful" |

Ed "Made muddy with the wet of regret Littered with things, unfinished" I felt so much the same of late, and wrote a bit about it today, but not with the depth and charm that you did. |
