Down Some Faded Road Tonight Down some faded road tonight these wheels are racing for the light a thousand miles from your cold shadow a thousand miles till I find my soul I am moving under angry black skies dark clouds rolling by in my eyes rolling back the years traded for tears cash in these dreams for a new pair of jeans Down some faded road tonight I am wandering around, out of sight I am wondering aloud, who's to blame who shattered the glass of this love's frame who cut and bled on these smiling faces flashed in the pan, a blue flame erases how we used to be living happily under a perfect blue sky now perfect blue eyes cry Down some faded road tonight this heart beats for the sight of a bright neon vacancy sign buzzing over a heart on the line someone who needs someone someone tired, always on the run from another cold shadow perhaps just a turnoff to my soul a half mile up this ghostly highway I hit the turn signal and I pray I am descending into the light beyond the darkness I had to fight fading from sight down some faded road tonight "Poets are all who love, who feel great truths, and tell them; and the truth of truths is love." --Philip James Bailey |
