Feminine Ending By: Noah Eaton 2/15/05
...so this is how it goes...
...you decided to mute the anacrusis...
...because it looked uneven to the meter...
...up to now rhyme and reason could be divorced...
...now we’ve come to understand...
...in plainest terms its tension and repose that make melodies...
...it took me a while to ear-train, learn to sub-divide...
...through your cherry orchard mascara runoff...
...there sings the fault lines... . . . . . ...could ashes stream from artificial eyelashes...
...my heart is like plastic in her microwave...
...swathed in a vain attempt...
...like high school sweethearts often do with eyes searching wild...
...were you anything to me...
...sitting on top of the bridge over the river with your legs dangling free...
...were you anything to me...
...I’d swing you high, I’d swing you low... . . . . . ...Remember when we walked on thin air...
...dancing away like Ziegfeld follies...
...remember when we walked out in the rain...
...feel it slide from your hair...
...to your forehead, to your nose,
to your lips,
as we kissed,
God I loved this... . . . . . . . ...evening walks over the river...
...we’d often see the drawbridge raised...
...and we’d wait for awhile...
...often we were most alive just wasting time...
...recently I’ve seen how she combs her hair...
...it’s as though she’s combing a beach...
...and I love her with all that dimethicone...
...but does she see me as humidity...
...Remember when we walked on thin air...
...dancing away like Ziegfeld follies...
...remember when we walked out in the rain...
...feel it slide from your hair...
...to your forehead, to your nose,
to your lips.
as we kissed,
God I loved this...
. . . . . . ...I ask her how she’s doing...
...unturning her cheek isn’t easy...
...and when I ask her how she’s doing...
...she talks to me through the medicine cabinet mirror...
...an anacrusis reading me an epistle...
...was she an illusion to me...
...I feel it’s not even her speaking...
...I can’t make my eyes behave... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ...I’m just longing to hear out a feminine ending...
...wondering if this all really meant something...
...I’m just waiting to hear out a feminine ending...
...wondering what might be or have been...
...I’m just longing to hear out a feminine ending...
...wondering if this all really meant something...
...I’m just waiting to hear out a feminine ending...
...wondering what might…just might…have been... . . . . ...were you anything to me...
(why can’t you tell me)
if you were you anything to me...
(I can’t believe)
you weren’t anything to me... . . . . ...why does that ending sound so perfect...
...why does that ending sound so perfect... . . . . . ...it's irony but I'll accept it...
...it's irony but I'll accept this... . . . . .
"If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other"

Noah, I was swept away by your stirring words of love and adoration. Whoever she is who captures your heart, she will be one lucky young woman!
You see with more than your eyes! ~ you see with your heart and poetic soul!
It's good to read you again, my friend!
Love you! Linda

Noah, this was a stirring, emotional read. I especially loved the refrain...the stanza that contained, "God I loved this." Time will tell you the truth but it is good you know your own feelings for now. Also, liked the play on words with feminine ending. ....jo
