To Come As a Child agog the two-year-old reaches for the beauty, the brilliance of each blossom, no matter the color, wishing to make it his own grasping it, unwittingly crumpling the beauty within his clutch, still unaware of anything, but delight in its color, he tastes it- a deep desire to know it well, to understand it, to make it a part of his world- to become closely linked with the bright joy of it and we, who have understanding of strength and gentleness, if we could only see with his eyes, yet handle with our touch and speak of with our lips that are better guided with conscience not to harm, not to injure, but as the toddler to view with delight, with joy the brilliance of all color, the strength in all weakness, its varied vitality to come as a child with a child’s candor and not the rancor of some learned response ©November 11, 2004 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

wise words well written - I can see the bright eyed child in my mind's eye as I read this and it brings me delight - Susan Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you. Joy is a state of mind. |
