Voice modulations Pulse between the eyes Lavender walls and soft lights Feeling the right side of temperate Resisting the siege of winter Re-lighting its pipe….. Feeling the smell of a cocooned Furred countryside, with open flame Warm-blooded plumes of nutmeg Finding my hands in the dark Standing between dreams and reflections Coexisting, wearing high-waisted straps Ones which separate the clattering sounds From cookie cutter fictions Which no one should miss…. Polishing out grooves in the floor Solidity of a knot reshaping Into focus beyond any confines Like tectonic plates slamming together Forming startling new special effects Like a surreal demon Darkly humorous and wicked Slicing personality, like a jigsaw puzzle Erasing lines between delusion of heart Like a bang which never looks back Or lets go…. There I stand, fixated with angular nose No coat or umbrella to battle the elements Or the pudgy face of school Which my skin drinks in, a sheer force Of life in motion…. Giving pieces of me back Wrapping me in a blanket, safe and warm Flesh tones complacent like wide-eyed babies Of soft ethereal music With a sense of punishment etched in my skin Catapulting me into womanhood Stumbling in high heels Silent tears bled my heart from whence Words erupted…once, long ago Limping the last block home Now seeing myself for the first time Browsing through stacks of shelves Loaded with fiction, history, poetry And a best seller….a biography The one, I wrote, myself…public, Yet private, all in the same and I Wondered where the blush had gone When did it leave? Stoic amused awareness tapped me On the shoulder Wincing in a startle of shock Realizing I was caught, quit naked The very weird thing was Our eyes grew smaller and closer together And this time, I winked back I gently smiled and the woman in me Vanished in thin air Along with the scorecard And several major handicaps Consciousness snapped every single light In the house…..on Time agreed and I remembered how vital It had been to me…I’d been really lucky Finally blushing with sweet thoughts Ones which would probably be very mundane & boring, to anyone else…. “Hmmmm”, I think a fresh pot of coffee With a splash of Amaretta would taste good Right about now….. |

WEll told, how, surely, a person would feel after the release of an autobiography. I love the line...I wonder when the blush...stopped. One line I had trouble understanding...the pudgy face of school...or maybe it was relating to it...although, I'm sure my face was pudgy then, in the grammar school years, but for it to offer that for which you indicated missing from it. As you can see by how I'm trying to explain my lack of comprehension...it, too, is a confused muddle of words...just as my brain is. ![]() Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
