Morning has cracked the dawn with a gray pallor yet there is something misty and mysterious in the serenity of it it is a solitude of color a quietness given almost as a lullaby in its lack of contrast providing a slow lull a gentle rising a soft-stepping to this day’s beginning there is not a sadness in the gray but a semblance of amity rather than the concerns of earlier hours of earlier days oh may it not be wishful thinking in disguise may it not be merely the calm before the storm in line awaiting its ticket to rage may it truly be a peaceful cloak coating this morning ©November 9, 2004 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
