Finally Making Wings that Open Take the laces from my morning cloak time is open to all seasons for this grass yields to bare feet and the dew not yet frozen is a giver of this memory from ground and gone lit by time the tree has defended the sky beyond See the very hope of children in the den the ring of music hums within their bones the gallop moves me still and the climb of knowledge so many steps I’ve lost to the ill fit shoe and yet counting one and two I can’t erase the path nor find the gate Could there be a God within this place of sky the birds have come and gone and left me flight yet no where to go to find the invisible thread I yearn to sew but yes I tangle lines instead There is a pattern single and worthy feeling silken on the inside lining lost at thirty and the grace of giving stretch is comfort chosen as hand to hand together somehow love is spoken and the sound grinds this dirt and tears together finally making wings that open [This message has been edited by Martie (11-07-2004 12:24 AM).] |

Ah, Martie....no surprise to me here.... I've always told you that you could fly, if you wanted to.... See? Ole Ed knows a thing or two.... ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> ______________Ratleader______________ |

Each stanza stands alone as a single, short poem... but silk slip-tied together with a lover's knot, they make forever come real, and Daedalus no fool... |

Last stanza is my favorite and the "hand in hand" line my most favorite!!! Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

Could there be a God within this place of sky the birds have come and gone and left me flight yet no where to go to find the invisible thread I yearn to sew but yes I tangle lines instead ************** You DO soar and you do it with the grace of precision of a swallow at dusk in play. I am reading something in this that I am very proud of you for ( even if it isn't clear to you yet). Goes back to some discussions we have had in the past about that one thing you couldn't find belief in. *************** as hand to hand together somehow love is spoken and the sound grinds this dirt and tears together finally making wings that open *************** It does take time and now I am anxiously awaiting to see what flight path you end up on. Excellent as always and you know how much I enjoy your vision in color play. |

I have been trying to pinpoint the feeling I get when I read your work, and I think it's very close to what I feel when I say, "church." Your poetry is like having "church." Martie. Quietly powerful and awe-inspiring. You are simply the best. |

How can I put into words how you touch me with your poetry Marti? The simple and striking way you present the wonders of the world through your eyes, is like the bow of a master violin. Beautiful. TD |

I see red clay wings and a red clay halo I'm with Karen! There is "Spirit" in your words. |
