I may have always lived here in this shack Whiling away the pages of calendars Stacking my sins like so much cordwood In preparation for the winter that’s coming Sitting by the woodstove reading my biography From the book of years Stopping always at the unwritten last chapter While other aspects of myself went on about life One, sandal-shod penniless, but otherwise happy Paint spattered jeans and old flanneled tatters Gallons of wine, pints of tequila Another, Alexander Julian and Geoffery Beene Were hanging in my closet, while Johnnie Law Was hangin’ around my Lincoln “Smoky”, Libby, “Sunshine” (a couple of them) Bridgette, Amy and the guileless sweet “Belle” Then, long-last and lost, the girl with brown eyes One man’s many lives budding, blossomed And bearing the odd fruit Before withering away with the end of a season Yet, I have always been right here Perched on the bank Readying the place for when I finally show up Listening for a rustling in the wind and wood Watching the river’s steady slow progress Paying particular attention to the bend upstream So that I might be ready to meet myself here |

I know the feeling... though we haveit applied to our lives in different ways and on different paths... smallmouth this time of year are sluggish... but a good grub fished slow along the edges of cover or down the riffles to the still pools will tease them out.... and they taste different..lol... you can taste in them now the coming cold... love the verse bud... but I don't recall reading anything from you that I didn't enjoy.. |

These reminiscences live and breathe with a life lived full and colourful. Descriptive and poignant journey and I enjoyed taking every step with you. Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Unknown |

wranx There are as many paths as there are people and I've touched on so few. Perhaps as the circles expand they intermingle. |

ah, meeting oneself - I like the concepts of the multiple facets of ourselves and the waiting for that which we hope to become - so it says to me - many lives over many years have I lived, and yet, I still have not known myself in total - Good stuff- Susan Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you. Joy is a state of mind. |
